Who we are

C411 Country – Natural Capital for Generations is a landscape-scale initiative working across the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges to protect, restore and steward nature for the long term.

We bring together community, business and social groups, private landholders, public lands, government agencies, and conservation organisations, to care for 128000 hectares of highly fragmented and ecologically significant peri-urban landscape which includes farms, forests, waterways and towns.

Our focus is not short-term projects, but intergenerational stewardship: improving the condition of land and ecosystems over time, and building the structures, relationships and governance needed to sustain that care for decades to come.

C411 Country is convened by the Nangana Landcare Network, drawing on more than 30 years of local conservation leadership and deep place-based knowledge.

The Foundation for Natural Capital will convert C411 Country’s regeneration work into investable propositions, activating blended finance across government, philanthropy, ESG-aligned capital and biodiversity markets.

Natural capital is the value of the ecosystems that sustain us, from clean water and healthy soil to the food we grow and the biodiversity that underpins it, made visible and measurable so it can be protected and financed. Robust governance, permanence and integrity will ensure these investments deliver sustained ecological and community benefits.

The Foundation aims to provide long-term investment and support for the region’s regeneration and natural capital works, safeguarding decades of volunteer endeavour while amplifying impact for future generations.
